When someone crosses your mind, bless them.

Blessing is a powerful, transformative gift that we can offer to others -anytime, anywhere. When given generously from a heart of love, they shine the light of comfort upon the receiver. In his inspiring book The Gentle Art of Blessing, Pierre Pradervand tells us, “To bless means to wish, unconditionally and from the deepest chamber of your heart, unrestricted good for others and events.” To bless is to uplift.

Whenever anyone crosses our path or our mind, we can get in the habit of offering them a quick blessing … It takes only a little mindfulness to recognize the countless opportunities we have in a day  to lift up others in ways that are beyond the scope of our material world.

Pradervand puts it beautifully when he tells us, “To bless all without distinction is the ultimate form of giving, because those you bless will never know from whence came the sudden ray that burst through the clouds of their skies …”

Blessing others gives us a positive alternative to aggravation and complaint, helplessness and fear. There is always something we can do to change the world for the better and, in the process, become an instrument of healing.

In the world:

  • When someone crosses your mind, bless them
  • When a friend is grieving, bless them
  • When you see images of war, bless them
  • When someone you know is having a rough day, bless them
  • For every blessing you offer, you are blessed in return.

In the heart:

Today, as people cross my path or my mind, I bless them, imagining for them their highest good and happiness.
