Tributes to Pierre and his Legacy
Adam Gordon, Editor, Cygnus Review, Autumn 2024
Pierre Pradervand, the Swiss spiritual teacher, passed away recently, in July this year at the age of 87. He was very well-known to Cygnus Books, who published UK editions of at least a couple of his books, I think. He also contributed many articles over the years to the Cygnus Review and felt to me like one of our main in-house teachers, along with Ann Napier and William Bloom, to name two other pivotal people. There are more.
The two concepts I associate with him are blessing and peace. He worked to bring peace to multiple parts of the world especially in the prison system, where he corresponded on behalf of unfairly convicted prisoners like Roger McGowen in the United States. In practical terms he facilitated Roger’s release from Death Row but he also gave encouragement to other prisoners to stay positive and on the spiritual path.
And blessings. He has filled books with specific blessings towards ourselves, towards other people and towards situations in the world. Through them we can develop a kinder attitude generally and, all being well, feel more positive about ourselves and about things in the wider world that challenge us.
Pierre started groups to carry on this process and continued even into his last days to send out inspiring messages to help us carry on in what can seem to be a tough old world. His voice was a persistent light through the darkness.
Like Ann Napier, his spirit will live on in the work that Cygnus does and the hearts of people who are part of this movement and who are trying to transform themselves to become better agents of peace and kindness in the world.
Cathy Urroz Precious man, I liked him from the first day I read his Gentle Art of Blessing book many years ago. Blessing has been a very important part of my spiritual path. He blessed me profusely with his work!
Mandi Solk What a very sad shock. What a huge loss. Pierre leaves a massive dent in the atmosphere, because he was the Blesser of all gentle blessings. What a magnificent heart he had and what a very great legacy and teaching he leaves for all of us. His service to humanity was limitless and so utterly beautiful. I’m deeply sad for us all to have lost such a great man, but how the Angels will rejoice to see him, and of course he’ll continue to live in all those hearts who remember him and who continue to make blessing a life-practice. Thank you Pierre and so much love and great gratitude indeed to you, Manuela for upholding this page and carrying on his work. What a blessing you are. Infinite gratitude. Mandi
Sandy Johnson I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your close friend, Pierre. His words of wisdom and profound truths of love and blessings are immortal. How blessed you are to have known him so closely.
BunnyMcBride Oh my goodness, Manuela! I had such a vivid dream about him night before last and was going to write you to ask for an update on his wellbeing. In my dream, I heard that he was staying at a Japanese embassy, which in retrospect must have been a monastery. I went looking for him (a very long and tangled journey). Finally, I came to an arched stone gate, walked through and found myself in a natural setting of open woodland with pathways leading to very simple wooden shacks. I felt drawn to one of them, went inside, and found Pierre asleep on a cot, wrapped in a rumpled white sheet and connected to a breathing or feeding tube. I bent down beside him and he opened his eyes. “Talk. Just talk to me,” he said. But I couldn’t. I wrapped my arms around him and just held him. His body was cool and damp and a bit sticky. It felt as if he was covered in oil or Vaseline. When I told Harald about the dream, I said I felt as if Pierre was a caterpillar in a chrysalis state, coming about to come out of a cocoon. I’m in tears as I write this…Thank you for letting me know and for being so supportive of him all these years.
Millie Hathaway I’m so thankful to have discovered his writings. They have added so much to my life!
Sandy Wilder Letting my heart feel sadness in that he won’t be with us this realm, and so much gratitude for the difference he has made in so many lives. What an example of joy and grace in action. He tangibly communicated how much he loved each person he was with. I’m also picturing him continuing his blessing with those he is interacting with right now. He was a beacon of hope for so many of us, and I’m sure that will continue. Well in mate! I feel you. You will always be cherished for what you are and how you lived with us.

Ann Puybasset 15 mins video with Pierre Pradervand on the gentle art of blessing and on the law of love. Some authors make a real difference and never die thanks to their legacy. Pierre is one of them. He transitioned some days ago and leaves many books and audios. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hV9HD73dYWo…
Matt Evans I can genuinely say that talking to Pierre Pradervand was an incredibly beautiful 20 minutes of life. Given I had been listening to this book before I spoke to him, I can truly say he was a man who lived what he wrote, Gratitude and blessings for all, and his story of how he came to be who he was was amazing. We’re all blessed to be able to read and learn from this Man.
Elian Haan – I look forward to reading the book, inspired by your kind words for Pierre Pradervand and his beautiful legacy, and the comments above! Thank you for spreading kindness and blessings
Dave Orton Pierre Pradervand has died. He was an amazing stand for desiring unlimited goodness for others and situations. A dear friend of mine got to speak with Pierre a few months before he passed away. He gave his work away to people all over the world. He rejoiced when people made copies and shared ‘The Gentle Art of Blessing’ everywhere he went. I have read this book 5 times. I love it so much that I recorded it so I can hear it in a familiar voice. I’ve given away many copies. I have it on Audible. If you haven’t read this yet, do yourself a favor and take the action required to learn the Gentle Art of Blessing.
Olga Kovářová Campora I’m so grateful this book has brought to my attention about 2 years ago. I too have gifted this book to many of my friends and clients and it has the most powerful LOVE IN ACTION message. May Pierre rest in peace! So grateful for his impact in my life
Julian Wyatt Part of my daily routine. May his memory and teachings continue to inspire a new generation. It’s my favorite book right now. On YouTube it’s read like an audiobook and there is a movie about Pierre and the book. An interview tells us what he means by Blessing. He did great things on this earth.
Paula Ryan Designs · Love this book and his message. Thank you for sharing. I gave my book away, need to order a new one! have been listening on audible. What a powerful message and gift he gave to us
Rebecca Shannon I didn’t have the honour or knowing Pierre …. And I have the blessing of this book in my life – recommended by my friend and mentor Steve Hardison and nudged to read again by Devon Bandison just last week Such a gift and I will read again in this amazing persons honour
Rob Cressy Just finished it last week. I’ve been riding on a train of infinite blessings
Elizabeth Cantey I’ve read the book and loved it as well. So beautiful, so simple, so profound… I had asked him to be on my show, and he said YES! but that he wasn’t feeling quite up to it… I know he is blessed and still blessing right where he is…
Anna Anderson, Quantum Living It was my pleasure to have Pierre sharing his wisdom and love for life on my show. Now he knows what we are all wondering about: how is it really on The Other Side
Fabrice Pinel Pierre Pradervand left us at the beginning of the summer, and many of us mourned an immense loss. Of course, I understand the affection and grief of those who knew him well, or who simply had the grace to be touched by his work. We live in matter and inevitably become attached to beings of matter…
However, it is possible to adopt a very different point of view, and I’d like to invite you to take a step back from this feeling. Consider, for example, that the rain of blessings that Pierre showered on mankind throughout his life, both for isolated individuals and for entire communities, is still, and very likely will remain, very much active.
Let’s imagine that the love he nurtured and poured out among us is still with us, inspiring us, sustaining us… and even that it will never die! Aren’t the many texts Peter has left us so many nuggets pointing relentlessly to our finest virtues and enjoining us to cultivate our highest potential at all times and in every situation?
Couldn’t we then feel that it’s time for us to take up the baton and take our turn in blessing abundantly? To sow our own seeds? To make this aspiration blossom even more abundantly? We have the capacity and the precious power to do so. And we have no shortage of opportunities!
You can watch a video of this blessing on the “Sacred Poetry” YouTube channel.
